Apologies this page is still under construction and is not yet complete.

Welcome to the R3 Worship in the Local Church Weekend web page. This page is designed to provide useful resources relating to topics covered in R3 with WEMTC. If you have found useful resources or have questions you would like ask, please do contribute. These weekends are linked to the Home Church Reflection module

What is this Weekend all about?

The four Year 1 weekends are linked together to develop themes related to the Church in its local setting and provide both material and tools of reflection for the on-going Home Church Reflection P101. Each weekend also explores on Sundays the theme: Worship and Sacraments.

The second weekend particularly explores how your church undertakes its worship.

Books

The following are core books for this weekend: For more detailed bibliographies see our Worship in the Local Church Booklists.
Why not tell us of some books you have found useful? If the webmaster agrees we'll list them here.

R3 Worship in the Local Church Web Resources

You may find the following web sites helpful for Worship in the Local Church. Material on the net has no quality control making tutors very wary - and rightly so! Nevertheless there is a growing amount of first class work on line particularly coming from Religious Studies Departments of good Universities. Treat with care and you'll find it very useful.

The Internet is not 100% reliable and documents move, disappear and change their names. If you find a link does not work, try again in an hour, a day, or a week. But do feel free to email us to report a link doesn't work. Don't forget to tell us the name of the link!

Resources Generally

WEMTC Resources Page
See our resources page for liturgy and worship links that are designed for everyday use rather than academic study.
Worship Resources
Choose relevant links from the library of Graduate Theological Union Berkeley to find preaching, liturgy, prayers, creeds and general worship resources.
Praxis
Praxis produces very good training packs on a variety of liturgical and worship related subjects including Common Worship, the Lectionary and even Church Newsletters.

Anglican and Methodist Liturgies

Common Worship
All the Common Worship services available for downloading in pdf format (You will need an Adobe Acrobat Reader - but you probably already have it on the hard disk somewhere). Great if you don't have Visual Liturgy but less easy to form your own service sheets.
Book of Common Prayer
One of two American sites for copies of the BCP and its predecessors and successors. Note in U.K. this material is copyright and the property of the Crown in perpetuity.
Book of Common Prayer II
The second BCP site (see above)
Visual Liturgy
Visual Liturgy is the CD Rom that contains Common Worship and the Methodist Worship Book for creating your own service sheets. Read all about it here.
International Anglican Liturgies
This has links to liturgical material from quite a few Anglican communions including USA, UK and Wales. It is also a place to find the BCP, CCP and liturgical services for different events. It also contains a collection of Anglican hymnals online with some midi files which saves typing all those hymns into the service sheet.

Liturgies for the Festivals

Lent, Holy Week, Easter
Services and Prayers.Commended by the House of Bishops of the General Synod of the Church of England
Eastern Orthodox Church
Information on the church including the Great Lent and Pascha. (No need to download the pan-European language to use it)
Coptic Orthodox Lectionary
Including the Great Lent and Passion Week
Christmas
This is a general site for Christmas and Advent links that includes some liturgies and other interesting sidelines (drama, sermons, cartoons etc.) on a religious Christmas theme.

The Common Lectionary and Daily Office

American Common Lectionary
Revised Common Lectionary in the American version with readings from NRSV from the Vanderbilt Divinity Library
Celebrating Common Prayer
The Franciscan Daily Office CCP on line.
See also TM113.5/ 113.5 Worship and Liturgy Module and the general religion links as a starting point for your own searching
