WEST OF ENGLAND MINISTERIAL TRAINING COURSE
University of Gloucestershire
Since 1996 WEMTC has had the University of Gloucestershire (formerly Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education) as its validating institution. This enables ordination students to qualify for the Diploma of Higher Education in Christian Theology and Ministry. Those on WEMTC's other courses will be able to qualify for a Certificate in Higher Education in Christian Theology and Ministry.
The University of Gloucestershire has a church foundation and is also the validating body for the Open Theological College, the Salvation Army Training College and a number of Bible Colleges. The University understands that our primary purpose is to train people for ministry, and validates our courses with the understanding that they are about the building up of skills and personal qualities as much as the accumulation of knowledge. WEMTC's association with the University of Gloucestershire means:
Details of the relationship between the Course and University are set out in the Major Review Document which along with details of the University regulations for assessment, appeals, etc. are lodged in WEMTC libraries. The major parts of the Document are in the process of being put onto the web on our Major Review page.
The relationship between WEMTC and the University took a step closer in October 2003 when we moved into the University premises from our old base in Gloucester. Our offices are now located on the same floor as the Theology and Religious Studies Department on the Francis Close Campus. Our Cheltenham Centre evening sessions are held on the Park Campus.
